The Concept

The concept behind the whole project revolves around the number “10” that also represents the two atomic elements that makes all of the tools and possibilities at hand in a Fablab: the binary code; 0 and 1 become the connecting elements, a fil rouge that links physical and digital experience into one overarching theme.

After 10 years since its founding, Fablab Torino was in need for a rebrand that could refresh the look & feel of the lab website, social media presence and overall visual identity. We opted for a flashy new colour palette that took inspiration from its original one and expanded it for further to new tones and colour temperatures. We also looked for a new typographic system that highlighted the Fablab connection with CNC machinery and its industrial background.

Collaterals

The 10th year event had a dedicated area to the projects that made the history of the lab 10 years x 10 projects that made the difference. For each one, we designed a poster, focusing on the history of the project and its creators.

As the Fablab is evolving its presence on social media to attract more and more people, we also thought to include new asset templates that the social media team could use to promote its events and initiatives. A flashy sets of graphics they could use to promote workshops, case studies and events.

As part of the special event experience, we were asked to produce merchandise to be sold during the event, to sponsor the association. Each participant could customize a set of t-shirt and tote-bag with the symbols of his/her own experience in the lab. Hackable music, electronics, woodworking, laser-cutting and more were all represent as part of the icon set available; each icon could then be selected and applied within the binary code pattern showcased on each merch piece.
