About

Hello, I am Fabrizio (aka Fab ✨), Visual Design Team Lead at Arduino. I focus on branding with a sweet tooth for illustration and motion graphics. My goal is to work with brands that use illustrations and animations to tell their very own special stories. My motto is: "Befriends white spaces, and trust your grids".

I take inspiration from Swiss Design, but with a humorous twist by coloring outside the lines. I worked with Arduino® and HP®, spanning from branding to marketing campaign design.

Who’s fab?

Born in the Italian mountains, my upbringing unfolded amidst the landscapes of the Piedmontese countryside near Torino. Driven by an early passion for visual media and communication, I embarked on a professional path into graphic design, eventually earning a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from Politecnico di Torino.

In 2013, approaching my graduation, I immersed myself in the stimulating field of digital fabrication, joining the pioneering community of Fablab Torino. Here, I witnessed firsthand the democratizing potential of design in everyday applications.

My career trajectory took a significant turn in 2014 when I joined Arduino. Within this dynamic team, I assumed diverse responsibilities in graphic design while pursuing a graduate diploma in Design Anthropology from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. This dual focus deepened my understanding of design's societal implications and broadened my perspective on its role in shaping communities.

In 2021, I collaborated with Marta Monge to establish Surplus®, a design collective dedicated to unconventional brand and illustration projects that push the boundaries of branding.

As the years progressed, my role within the Arduino Design Team expanded. Entrusted with directing the creative vision for marketing campaigns and guiding the brand's evolution, I embraced increasing levels of responsibility. In 2022, my dedication and contributions were recognized with the appointment as team leader, a testament to my steadfast commitment to excellence in design.

They say about me

Anna Viganò
- CMO

Fabrizio is a talented, experienced and passionate art director. I had many chances to work with him on very different projects and I've always felt blessed and secure by collaborating with him.

Andrea Foschiatti
- Industrial Designer

I knew Fabrizio was an ambitious and precise designer before I had the chance to work with him. In the project we worked on together he proved that, pushing for a balanced and enjoyable result, while keeping a broad view of brand identity. He simply doesn't overlook. It's been a relief to know he was in the team. I hope it'll repeat!

Sara Therner
- Head of Intellectual Property

Fabrizio is exceptional to work with. He combines professionalism and ambition with a consistently friendly and humble approach. As an "internal customer," I always feel prioritized and valued, even when I know his to-do list is extensive.
Gianluca Varisco
- Google Cloud

Writing a recommendation for Fabrizio without overemphasising him is a quite challenging task. He is skilled far beyond the average, but the things that stand out are the passion with which he commits to his projects and, last but not least, his huge appetite for continuous learning. Fabrizio's humble and inquisitive approach is great when working with customers and colleagues alike. He is an absolute pleasure to work with: an outgoing skilled professional who's intelligent, accountable and committed to delivery at 200%. These traits make him an amazing addition to any project!

Alice Mela
- Sr Product Manager

Fabrizio took care of the branding for the 10th birthday of Fablab Torino. The final results were beautiful and on-point beyond expectations. Besides classic promotional material for the event (poster, banner, postcards) he also designed a silk-screen graphic for the merchandising and the posters for an exhibition, all matching the beautiful identity created for us.
Laura Balboa
- Release Manager

In my time as the Design Team Manager at Arduino I witnessed Fabrizio’s career blooming first hand.

He has maintained a consistent growth in design maturity along with the acceleration of the company. Fabrizio anticipates to requests, delivers high quality outcomes and always manages to give practical solutions during emergencies or design challenges.

He listens, reacts, collaborates, and delivers design work with great craft and care. He is curious and always ventures into getting extra knowledge in the design field. All of these traits plus the self nurturing activities he performs are a good indicator of what makes Fabrizio an inspiring member for teams that care about constant evolution and excellence in design.

Yu HU

Fabrizio is the design team lead where he demonstrated great professional skills and leadership skills.

Professionally, Fabrizio is extremely knowledgeable in his domain of work. It is always very inspiring having a discussion with him regarding any interaction elements with users. He always has great insight and strong logic of reasoning behind.

Meanwhile as a team lead, Fabrizio has been a great leader to work with. He is humble but yet firm in communication, very organised in task management, and when there are conflict, he is facilitating and navigating to find the best solutions. He has a great vision and goal that fits well in the company's vision, and always working towards serving the purpose. Working with Fabrizio gives me great confidence in quality, delivery, and contributing to positive working culture between teams.
